A CentralSquare Technologies Case Study
San Diego Fire-Rescue faced an urgent need to replace aging, text‑based mobile terminals in hundreds of fire trucks, ambulances and other emergency vehicles that dated back to 1981 and provided only limited incident information, no configurable pre‑plans or hazmat data, and costly maintenance challenges. Using grant funding, the agency selected CentralSquare Technologies’ CAD Enterprise and Mobile Enterprise solutions to modernize their in‑vehicle communications and situational awareness capabilities.
CentralSquare Technologies deployed Mobile Enterprise integrated with CAD Enterprise across roughly 350 mobile units, delivering real‑time incident updates, GPS/GIS mapping with satellite overlays, turn‑by‑turn voice navigation, messaging and automatic over‑the‑air updates. The implementation improved response accuracy and speed (replacing reliance on wall maps), gave crews preplan and hazmat info before arrival, supported multi‑jurisdiction resource allocation during wildfires, and lowered maintenance effort and costs through automatic updates—boosting operational efficiency and field morale.
