A CentralSquare Technologies Case Study
The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office needed to modernize its public safety communications to share real-time incident and resource information with neighboring agencies—most notably the Clearwater Police Department—because its legacy CAD system could not support bi-directional data sharing. To address this, the county evaluated vendors and selected CentralSquare Technologies, deploying CentralSquare’s CAD Enterprise and Mobile Enterprise platforms along with an Advanced CAD-to-CAD Interface.
CentralSquare Technologies implemented CAD Enterprise, Mobile Enterprise and an Advanced CAD-to-CAD Interface to enable seamless transfer of incidents, updates and resource status between the PCSO and partner agencies while keeping each agency’s communications systems autonomous. The solution went live in 2007, supports a 608 sq. mile area with 928,000 residents and ~300,000 annual calls, and serves 26 dispatchers, 34 call-taker seats and 600+ mobile units; it also enabled shared records, in-field reporting and automated ticket writing, improving mutual aid, response efficiency and cost savings through joint procurement.
