The Oconee County Sheriff's Office in South Carolina faced extreme call volume and operational strain during severe weather—most notably Hurricane Irma—when their emergency communications center handled 2,668 calls over 36 hours (three times normal traffic). To meet these demands the agency relied on CentralSquare Technologies’ CentralSquare CAD as part of the CentralSquare Public Safety Suite Pro, after prior CAD systems had failed under load.
CentralSquare Technologies’ solution delivered stable performance and rapid configurability: the CAD system sustained peak load with no slow call entry or database delays, even with triple staffing for more than 12 hours, and enabled fast activation of “storm templates” to separate routine and storm-related queues. Integrated CentralSquare Reporting automated public updates every 15 minutes and made post‑event statistics and custom reports quick to produce, allowing the Oconee County Sheriff's Office to maintain operations and focus on response rather than system troubleshooting.
