The Challenge of Building a Large-Scale Medical Project is Met Through Communicating & Leveraging Automation Solutions

Precision Walls, Inc., a large specialty interiors contractor, faced the complexity of delivering the Duke Medicine Pavilion — an 800,000 sq. ft., 3‑year, $10M scope that included 1.8 million sq. ft. of drywall, over 1 million linear feet of framing, 150,000 sq. ft. of shaft wall and 1,500 doors. Managing extensive change orders, construction change directives (CCDs), and a high volume of RFIs while keeping office and field teams and multiple trades aligned was the central challenge. To meet this demand Precision Walls partnered with On Center Software, using On-Screen Takeoff®, Quick Bid and Digital Production Control™.

On Center Software’s automated takeoff, estimating and Digital Production Control plan pages were implemented to incorporate CCDs and RFIs, share changes with KBR Building Group and other trades, and trace issues to root causes. The solution improved takeoff accuracy, enabled faster, clearer communication across office and field crews, reduced gray areas in conflicts, and increased crew productivity — helping Precision Walls efficiently manage massive quantities of work and keep the Duke Medicine Pavilion project on track with measurable improvements in change‑order and field coordination processes.
