A Center for Creative Leadership Case Study
Crowley Maritime Corp., a major logistics and shipping company, sought to develop its high-potential mid-level leaders across diverse global locations. The challenge was to move away from a one-size-fits-all approach and instead deliver a tailored program that strengthened soft skills, built foundational leadership competencies, and improved collaboration for a cohort spread across multiple time zones. Crowley partnered with the Center for Creative Leadership to integrate a flexible virtual solution into its competitive leadership development program.
The Center for Creative Leadership implemented its online Frontline Leader Impact course, a gamified and self-paced program that provided 18 hours of learning over six weeks. The solution included weekly team discussions, a dedicated moderator, and tools for participants to build a personal leadership growth plan and solve a real company challenge. This virtual and asynchronous format allowed for greater participation and engagement. As a result, the Center for Creative Leadership helped Crowley develop a new cohort of leaders, with 50% of the initial participants receiving a promotion and 13% transferring within the organization.
