Strategic Budgeting Ensures Success of Community Support Programs for Woods’ Homes

Wood’s Homes is a Calgary-based, multi-service nonprofit children’s mental health center serving 20,000 children and families across 35 programs. Faced with 122 financial statements, more than 7,000 account codes and multiple funders, the finance team found Excel-driven budgeting error-prone and too slow to support strategic forecasting and program-level reporting.

They implemented Budget Maestro from Centage, and after four days of training built an automated budgeting and forecasting model that integrates with HR and accounting systems. The solution cut personnel data entry from days to under an hour, reduced program budget creation from weeks to minutes, enabled rapid “what-if” scenarios, improved cash flow and balance-sheet management, and eliminated many manual errors—allowing finance to more strategically allocate funds and better support Wood’s Homes’ programs.
