Automated, Accurate and Actionable Reporting Empowers Teams to Make Decisions with Confidence

The Children’s Institute of Pittsburgh is a nonprofit serving more than 6,000 children annually across seven campuses in Western Pennsylvania. When the controller joined, the finance team relied on Dynamics GP and manual Excel processes for budgeting and hard‑coded reports; Planning Maestro was only used for annual budget uploads, power users had left, and the organization’s expansion from one to five entities made consolidated and entity‑level reporting slow, error‑prone, and difficult to maintain.

By expanding use of Planning Maestro’s cloud budgeting and reporting features, the team automated allocations, revenue calculations and spreads, consolidated data across five entities, and delivered granular budget vs. actuals to business unit managers. The result: faster, more accurate reporting (key reports now take 30 minutes instead of half a day), greater confidence in the numbers, and a scalable reporting process that’s being extended to complex, federally funded program reporting.
