Purchasing cooperative takes digital transformation in its stride

MEGA eG is a 120‑year‑old purchasing cooperative serving independent crafts and trade businesses across 125 German locations (about 1,700 employees, €400M annual sales). As it expanded its SAP Commerce online store, the company struggled with an outdated image database, inconsistent metadata and a manual Excel-based process to link media to products — impractical for a range of over 80,000 items and slow to update.

MEGA implemented censhare (DAM/PIM) with integration support from kolb digital to automate imports from SAP ERP, centralize product and media assets, and link images, data sheets and safety info to products. The result: content updates are ~60× faster, 8,000 articles are live in the store with feeds from 700 suppliers, availability and downloads are easier for customers, staff satisfaction has risen, and MEGA is now extending the system to print production.
