The University of Tampa, a customer of Cengage Learning, faced significant challenges in its Business Statistics courses. Professor Raymond Papp identified severe academic integrity issues with his previous online platform, where exercises were easily copied. Furthermore, students found the class materials dull and unengaging, which prevented them from meeting learning objectives.
Cengage Learning provided a solution using its WebAssign and MindTap products. The implementation of algorithmic exercises, including challenging Excel problems, mitigated cheating and introduced relevant, real-world examples. As a result, the university saw a measurable positive impact: homework scores increased by an average of 4.3%, overall student confidence and engagement rose by 19%, and a significant majority of students reported that the platform helped them learn difficult content and stay organized.
