Why E.ON Relies on a “Glocal” Model as it Rolls Out Celonis Process Mining

E.ON, a large energy group with complex, distributed operations across customer service, accounting, network maintenance and sales, needed end-to-end process transparency to improve efficiency and control costs. To address this, E.ON adopted Celonis’ Execution Management System (EMS) and process mining capabilities beginning in 2018–2019.

Using Celonis EMS, E.ON ran group-wide Accounts Payable analyses, set up near‑real‑time KPI reporting, and eliminated specific process deficiencies—saving the group a high six‑figure amount annually—while also detecting compliance issues and assessing COVID‑19 remote‑work impacts. Celonis’ cloud EMS and ML-driven Action Engine are being deployed in a “glocal” model (central purchase and infrastructure, local analysis and implementation), replacing fragmented deployments to scale cross‑unit optimization.
