Vodafone Group IoT, a major telecommunications company, faced the challenge of needing to detect and resolve service-impacting anomalies for its IoT network much faster to improve service quality and customer satisfaction. Their goal was to achieve detection in under five minutes with a very low false positive rate while scaling to support one billion devices. To address this, they partnered with vendor Celfocus.
Celfocus developed the IoT Next Generation Monitoring (NGM) solution, which leveraged machine learning and artificial intelligence for cognitive intelligence and automation. The implementation delivered significant results, including reducing false positives from over 90% to less than 5% and cutting anomaly detection time from hours down to under five minutes. The solution also provided high success rates in prediction models for maintenance and traffic, contributed to revenue growth, and efficiently processed over two billion call detail records daily.
