Stein’s Garden and Home Revamp POS to handle massive sales volume

Stein’s Garden & Home is a 16-store garden center chain in Wisconsin with roughly $60M in annual sales and highly seasonal traffic. Their legacy POS reached end-of-life and couldn’t keep up with peak volumes (hundreds of registers and up to 110,000 transactions on busy days), causing limited inventory visibility, overstocking, slow reporting, and no easy way to run store-specific pricing, promos or coupons.

In March 2016 Stein’s implemented Celerant’s Stratus Retail, a real-time platform that unifies POS, e‑commerce and back office and was customized to support multi-coupon handling and single-store pricing. The solution enabled seamless high-volume checkouts, complete inventory visibility, automated purchase orders, and advanced real-time reporting—allowing Stein’s to efficiently complete its $60M in sales, better target promotions, reduce excess stock and scale online and in-store operations.
