Chernin’s Shoe Outlet Is on Track for Rapid Expansion after Implementing a POS Focused Retail Management Solution

Chernin’s Shoe Outlet, a regional footwear retailer planning rapid growth from 20 to 50 stores, struggled with outdated registers and manual inventory processes that prevented scalable expansion. Stores relied on biweekly bulk counts that recorded only price point and category, allocation was coordinated by faxed Excel sheets and store visits, and register journals captured only quantity and price — leaving the chain without reliable, item-level sales or inventory visibility.

The company implemented Celerant’s Command Retail, a real-time POS-driven system with modules for POS, merchandising, warehouse, and accounts payable. New registers capture style and size and upload sales to headquarters every three minutes; warehouse handheld scanners, automated transfer orders, and an In Transit feature streamline replenishment; and QuickBooks exports cut about four hours of daily manual work. The $120,000 rollout across 36 stores delivered immediate operational efficiencies that justified the investment and positioned Chernin’s for continued expansion and deeper systems integration.
