Celerant Provides Tier-I Functionality On a Startup Budget

College Depot, founded in 2012 by CEO Cameron Salome, is a college superstore serving the Texas A&M community that combines textbook, apparel and big‑box merchandise. With just 12 mostly part‑time student employees and little historical sales data, the company needed tier‑1 retail functionality—inventory, POs, POS, e‑commerce and forecasting—on a startup budget to manage growth and vendor relationships.

College Depot selected Celerant Command Retail for its integrated, easy‑to‑use tools; intuitive purchase‑order workflows let Salome train students to handle POs, while POS, e‑commerce (20% of sales) and forecasting enabled automated reorders for key accounts. The outcome was big‑box capability without extra payroll or IT hires: improved inventory accuracy, stronger vendor relations, streamlined operations and sales running roughly 20% ahead of projections.
