The Sheraton Grand Chicago faced a complex scheduling challenge for its banquets team, needing to enforce union rotation rules for D-list staff, eliminate twice-weekly call-ins, and replace a fully manual scheduling process. To solve this, they turned to Celayix Software and its employee portal, Team Xpress, to modernize how shifts were allocated and communicated.
Celayix Software automated D-list scheduling, deployed Team Xpress so employees can self-select or release shifts, provided managers with replacement notifications, and exported shift data to other systems. The implementation cut D-list scheduling from about 7 hours a week to under 1 hour (an 86% efficiency gain), saved over 6 hours of scheduling time weekly, reduced shift-selection to roughly two minutes per employee, and eliminated the need for a phone-based call-in system.
