A Cegeka Case Study
The Flemish government's Growth Package Payment Agency (VUTG) faced the immense challenge of developing a new application to pay out a complex suite of child allowances, replacing the previous federal child benefit system. They needed to build a system that could automatically calculate entitlements by screening data from millions of records from various sources, all while complying with regulations that were still being developed and under an extremely tight eighteen-month deadline. To achieve this, VUTG engaged the vendor Cegeka for its application development services and expertise.
Cegeka developed a flexible, secure application using DevSecOps and agile methodologies, built on a microservices architecture to allow for parallel development and easy adaptation to changing legislation. The solution, hosted on the Cegeka cloud for maximum data security and sovereignty, successfully screened over 2.1 million tax notices and other records to automate the calculation and payment of allowances for 1.6 million children. The result was that VUTG paid out the Growth Package on time and with 99.9% accuracy, achieving its core objectives of being correct, complete, timely, and traceable.
