Case Study: Brussels Airlines achieves a scalable webshop launch in record time with Cegeka

A Cegeka Case Study

Preview of the Brussels Airlines Case Study

Development of a webshop for Brussels Airlines within six weeks

Brussels Airlines faced the challenge of an unreliable webshop that could not handle the high traffic volume generated by sales of combined tickets for a popular Belgian dance festival. Their existing application, built by another partner, was unstable under pressure. The airline engaged the vendor Cegeka to completely refactor the website into a stable and highly configurable application within an extremely tight, six-week deadline.

Cegeka implemented the solution using an agile approach with pair programming and rigorous load testing to ensure quality and avoid errors. The result was a reliable webshop that successfully supported 84,000 concurrent visitors without issues. The project was completed on time and on budget, and the new platform is so flexible that Brussels Airlines plans to reuse it for other commercial shops and events. The backend was also updated to provide comprehensive sales and performance monitoring.
