ViaMichelin Redefines European Travel

ViaMichelin, the Michelin Group’s digital travel service, needed a better way to measure and manage performance as its user base, content, and traffic grew across 45+ countries and 11 languages. Traditional backbone probes and synthetic monitoring could not show real end-user experience or diagnose performance issues well enough, especially after the launch of a richer Web 2.0 application. ViaMichelin turned to Cedexis, using Cedexis Radar and Openmix.

Cedexis implemented real-time end-user performance monitoring and dynamic traffic routing across ViaMichelin’s multi-cloud and multi-CDN setup. Cedexis Radar gave ViaMichelin objective visibility into page load times and geography-based trends, while Cedexis Openmix directed traffic to the fastest and most cost-effective source. The result was better performance control, smarter content delivery decisions, and greater confidence in service quality; ViaMichelin also gained leverage in vendor negotiations and stopped relying on backbone probes.
