Valley Health System - Customer Case Study

Valley Health System, a nonprofit operating six hospitals and nine outpatient rehab clinics in the Top of Virginia region, struggled with fragmentation: clinics used a mix of dictated, typed, and handwritten notes, had no shared scheduling tool, and functioned in silos that hindered hand‑offs, billing and workflow consistency.

The system implemented Cedaron Connect (go‑live Jan 31, 2012; ninth clinic added within 16 months) to standardize documentation, scheduling and workflows while interfacing with hospital registration and later Epic. Therapists adopted the system quickly, note quality improved, charge capture and AR days improved, denials essentially disappeared, and Connect’s billing/editing and reminder features preserved compliance and unified the outpatient rehab department system‑wide.
