John Muir Selects Connect and Sees Results
John Muir Health, a multi-site health system with four outpatient rehabilitation clinics and more than 80 clinicians, needed an EMR that supported outpatient rehab workflows, ensured Medicare and G‑code compliance, and reduced paperwork inefficiencies. When the health system selected Epic as its hospital-wide EHR, Epic’s outpatient rehab capabilities were not yet sufficient for John Muir’s needs, creating an interoperability and workflow challenge.
John Muir implemented Cedaron Connect in 2011 and later integrated it with Epic, keeping Connect as the primary outpatient rehab EMR. The solution streamlined workflows, eliminated plan-of-care redundancies, improved documentation and follow-up efficiency, standardized functional test scoring for outcome measurement, increased billing accuracy, and maintained Medicare compliance — with a successful technical and workflow integration achieved through coordinated vendor and internal teams.
