A CDNetworks Case Study
SpotOption, founded in 2010 and used by more than 300 brands holding 65% of the market, provides a web-based online trading platform that requires real-time pricing for traders (some with expiries as short as 15 seconds). The company faced persistent latency and TCP/websocket performance problems in mainland China—exacerbated by the Great Firewall and local network issues—which risked arbitrage, customer churn and service abandonment despite using a CDN.
SpotOption engaged CDNetworks to deploy Dynamic Network Acceleration and China Acceleration, moving transport-layer traffic from its Hong Kong servers to local PoPs in China and eliminating excessive round trips. The result: platform load times in China are now five times faster, with significantly reduced latency, fewer customer service issues and lower churn, restoring real-time pricing reliability and reducing arbitrage risk.
