Hostelworld.com Reduces Global Webpage Loading Time by 43% with CDNetworks

Hostelworld.com, founded in 1999 and headquartered in Dublin, is the world’s leading hostel booking platform with over 33,000 properties in 170 countries. As its global audience grew, users outside Western Europe experienced slower page loads because the site was hosted primarily in Dublin and London; building new data centers was prohibitively expensive, so Hostelworld needed a cost-effective way to maximize performance across continents and devices.

Hostelworld deployed CDNetworks’ Content Acceleration, SSL and China Acceleration, offloading 93% of traffic and establishing SSL sessions closer to users. The result was a drop in average page download time to 2.6 seconds (a 43% reduction in wait time), near-100% availability, faster secure payments, and noticeably improved delivery in markets such as India, Australia, Brazil, Russia and China—also supporting its image-driven mobile apps.
