Wacker Chemie AG is a global chemicals company headquartered in Munich, operating since 1914 with production sites across Europe, Asia and the Americas. As it expanded into growth markets such as China, South America and Eastern Europe, WACKER’s centrally hosted website suffered severe performance problems—pages took 2–3 minutes to load in China (improved to ~30 seconds with Hong Kong caches), causing lost leads and unacceptable user experience—while the company was unwilling to deploy and manage complex local infrastructure.
