Imperia Online Ltd, a Bulgaria-based studio behind the browser/mobile MMO real-time strategy Imperia Online (over 30 million registered players across 150 markets), was experiencing unacceptable lag in key emerging markets. Because the game requires near-instant feedback, poor internet infrastructure in Russia and Brazil—and limitations of its previous CDN—made gameplay unresponsive, hurting engagement and revenue.
CDNetworks implemented its Content Acceleration caching to deliver content from servers closer to players and route traffic along more efficient paths, restoring low-latency performance in those regions. As a result, the share of paying users doubled (from 5% to 10%), average playtime increased, and customer support enquiries declined, improving both player experience and monetization.
