A CDNetworks Case Study
Bally Interactive, the Gibraltar-based online gaming division of Bally Technologies, provides downloadable, mobile and web casino games to a global audience. As player counts grew, serving dynamic and static content from a single Gibraltar data center created inconsistent download performance across Europe and extremely high bandwidth costs, compounded by regulatory limits on where data could be hosted.
Bally deployed CDNetworks’ global CDN to accelerate dynamic applications and SSL content, routing traffic through multiple international PoPs. Within a week downloads improved 300–500% (large games dropped from 3–5 minutes to under 1 minute), bandwidth costs fell more than 90% (monthly bills from ~$25–30k to ~$2.5k), and the company now routinely serves 500 simultaneous full-featured downloads while meeting regulatory data-center requirements.
