VIB centralizes 45,000 molecules with CDD Vault

VIB, a leading Belgian nonprofit research institute, faced a challenge in managing its high-throughput screening data for a library of over 45,000 molecules. Their spreadsheet-based systems were unsustainable, as they could not link biological results to chemical structures, preventing relational analysis and hindering collaboration. To overcome this, they turned to the vendor CDD Vault for its data management platform and ELN (Electronic Lab Notebook).

The solution implemented by CDD Vault provided a central repository that unified chemical structures with screening data, becoming VIB's primary data management infrastructure. This allowed for easy visualization and comparison of compounds. The CDD Vault ELN enabled scientists to preserve searchable assay-development knowledge, improving reproducibility. The results included dramatically improved data storage and leveraged insights, enhanced collaboration across internal core facilities and external partners, and plans for future API integration to handle high-content imaging data.
