Tesco Bank Brings Their Social Good App to Market Quickly and Easily with CData

Tesco Bank and the University of Edinburgh launched Deedit, a fast-track social good project in Edinburgh that encouraged people to complete small acts of kindness and visualize their impact. The challenge was connecting live data from Amazon DynamoDB to the Deedit app and dashboard quickly, without the time or overhead of moving it into a relational database first. Tesco Bank turned to CData and its Amazon DynamoDB ODBC Driver to provide direct access to the live data.

CData implemented a live load layer from DynamoDB into Deedit’s visualization, enabling real-time reporting and dashboarding through standard ODBC connectivity. The result was a much faster deployment and a working interactive dashboard showing live stats such as 143 Deeders, 405 deeds done, and category completion rates like 89%, 68.5%, and 90%. According to Tesco Bank, using CData cut deploy time considerably compared with traditional data pipeline approaches.
