Kumu Art Museum - Customer Case Study

Kumu Art Museum in Estonia needed a robust digital-signage and live-video distribution system to serve exhibition halls, an auditorium, entrances and education spaces, with content updated regularly and the ability to carry live performances or speeches museum-wide. To meet that challenge the museum chose CAYIN Technology’s digital signage solution, deploying SMP-PRO media players and CMS Performance servers to handle both scheduled exhibit content and live/analog source conversion.

CAYIN Technology implemented 32 SMP-PRO players and 13 CMS Performance servers: 12 SMP-PRO units drive one 40" NEC and eleven 32" Philips displays for visitor information (updated weekly), while 2 CMS Performance servers (8 inputs each) and 16 SMP-PROs in the server room convert analog TV/DVD/camcorder feeds into network streams and back to a cable-TV distribution so any performance or speech can appear on every screen. The rollout also reserves 4 SMP-PROs and a CMS Performance server (4 inputs) for artists, delivering museum-wide live video capability, centralized content control, and measurable capacity (multiple inputs per CMS and dozens of endpoints) for reliable, frequent exhibition updates.
