Suffolk County Council's part-night lighting project success

Suffolk County Council, aiming to be the UK's greenest county, faced the challenge of reducing energy costs and carbon emissions from its street lighting. To support its part-night lighting initiative and improve maintenance efficiency, the council required a centralized asset management system and an intelligent lighting management system. They engaged vendor Causeway Technologies to help meet these objectives.

Causeway implemented its CausewayOne Asset Management solution, integrated with a system from Telensa, to create an Intelligent Lighting Solution (ILS). This allowed for remote monitoring and control of 55,000 lights. The project was completed under budget and resulted in annual energy savings of £641,000, exceeding estimates by 16.5%. Furthermore, it achieved a significant reduction of 3,300 tonnes of carbon emissions per year. Causeway's technology was crucial to the project's success, delivering major financial and environmental benefits.
