Network Rail, the owner and operator of the UK's extensive railway infrastructure, faced a significant challenge in managing the safety and competence of its large, dispersed workforce. They needed a reliable system to verify worker credentials, medical checks, and competence in real time across their network. To address this, they worked with vendor Causeway Technologies.

Causeway Technologies implemented its CausewayOne Skills Passport Sentinel system, which allows workers to swipe onto the railway to verify their status in real time. The solution prevented approximately 600 to 700 people from accessing the infrastructure every four weeks due to issues with their credentials. With 38,000 users, the system from Causeway has significantly enhanced operational safety, prevented potential incidents, and ensured compliance.
