Causeway drives Highway Asset Management gains for Tyne & Wear councils

The Tyne & Wear County Council, comprising the local authorities of Gateshead, Newcastle, Sunderland, and South Tyneside, faced the challenge of managing escalating volumes of highway asset data and aligning with government best practice to maximize funding. They partnered with Causeway Technologies, leveraging its Causeway Asset Management System and Causeway Horizons software to gain better insights from their road condition surveys and improve their strategic planning.

Causeway implemented its asset management solutions to help the councils analyze data, create lifecycle plans, and support their funding applications. The results were significant, with all three implementing councils achieving Band 2 status in the Government’s Incentive Fund and making strides towards Band 3. The collaboration with Causeway provided fast time to insight, enabled effective investment scenario planning, and established a strong foundation for continued asset management best practice.
