South East Water & West Sussex County Council collaborate to reduce TTRO approval time by 74%

South East Water, a utility company serving 2.3 million customers, faced significant delays and costs in its street works management. Their process for obtaining Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (TTRO) approvals was inefficient, relying on external contractors for drawings and taking anywhere from two days to a month for approval from highway authorities like West Sussex County Council. To address this challenge, they partnered with vendor Causeway Technologies.

Causeway Technologies implemented its CausewayOne Network Plan Share solution, a digital platform for creating and submitting traffic management plans. This allowed South East Water to generate plans internally and collaborate directly with the council. The results were substantial, including a 74% reduction in TTRO approval time to under three days, the elimination of external CAD drawing costs, and annual time savings of over six working days for West Sussex County Council.
