SOS Children’s Villages Raises Over $55k Through Their Virtual Toy Drive

SOS Children’s Villages of Illinois, a nonprofit that supports foster children and keeps siblings together, faced a major challenge in 2020 when its traditional holiday gift-giving campaign couldn’t happen in person because of COVID-19. To adapt, the organization turned to CauseVox and its virtual peer-to-peer fundraising platform to replace gift donations with dollar-based giving.

Using CauseVox, SOS Children’s Villages launched an all-digital holiday drive with personalized outreach, SEO support, and donation tiers that showed exactly how gifts would help children. The campaign surpassed its $25,000 goal and raised over $55,000, while also bringing in 419 new donors—75% of all its new donors in 2020—and doing so with less staff time than in previous years.
