Runa Raises $5,000 for Education Scholarships

Fundación Runa empowers indigenous communities and farmers in the Ecuadorian Amazon through social empowerment, community development, and environmental management. Facing a short timeline to raise $5,000 to send two indigenous leaders, Ernesto Huatatoca and Patricio Andy, to an MBA program co‑financed by USAID, Runa needed a way to quickly reach supporters in Ecuador, the U.S., Europe and beyond.

Using CauseVox to build a simple, shareable fundraising site with supporter-created donation pages, Runa promoted the campaign via social media and a monthly newsletter, personalizing the appeal around Ernesto and Patricio. The campaign exceeded its goal—raising $6,000—enabling the leaders to attend the MBA at ESPE, apply their new skills to real Amazonian business challenges, and commit to working in the region for at least three years.
