Concern America Raises $72k By Hosting A “Walk Out of Poverty” Event

Concern America is an international development organization (founded 1972) that trains local leaders in health care, water systems, education and income generation to help communities rise out of poverty. Facing the challenge of funding and community engagement for its annual “Walk Out of Poverty,” the group set an online pre-event goal of $10,000 to boost overall event support and participation.

They piloted the CauseVox platform, expanded individual peer fundraisers, and amplified outreach via email, social media and in-person appeals. The campaign drew 940 walkers, raised $13,000 online (surpassing the online goal by $3,000) and generated $72,000 total—exceeding typical annual results—funding community health promoter training, midwife training, medical training deployments and water systems.
