The Carlisle Family YMCA, a 156-year-old community organization that provides scholarships for programs like swimming lessons, summer camp, and reduced-rate memberships, needed to boost its annual fundraising while raising awareness and engaging millennials. The Board wanted to grow the scholarship fund (the Y has given $300,000 in scholarships) and expand community visibility without disrupting successful past fundraising approaches.
Using CauseVox’s peer-to-peer crowdfunding platform—with branded campaign pages, team captains and individual fundraisers, blog storytelling, and a donation tipping option—the YMCA secured many stakeholder pledges before launch and amplified social sharing. The campaign raised $96,445 (a $10,000 increase over 2014), with about 50% of donations pledged pre-kickoff and stronger engagement from the community and millennial donors.
