California Automobile Museum’s “Raise the Roof” Campaign

The California Automobile Museum in Sacramento faced a crisis when its 30-year home developed a severely leaking roof that required $750,000 to replace, and the museum needed the funds in hand by fall 2017 to renew its city lease. After raising about $720,000 from board members, volunteers and supporters, they were still roughly $30,000 short of the total needed.

The museum launched a three-month CauseVox peer-to-peer campaign with 15 personal fundraisers, which raised $28,105 and helped them reach a $760,000 goal. The easy-to-share fundraising pages amplified community support, drew press attention, and ultimately convinced the city to donate the building, giving the museum a permanent home.
