Case Study: Salcomp achieves 50% network OPEX reduction and replaces MPLS with Cato Networks

A Cato Networks Case Study

Salcomp Replaces Global MPLS, Firewalls, and WAN Optimizers With Cato Cloud

Salcomp, a global manufacturer of phone adapters, was hamstrung by an aging, costly and rigid global MPLS design that limited bandwidth, impaired cloud adoption, required complex WAN optimizers and suffered last‑mile outages and long site‑provisioning times. After evaluating SD‑WAN options, Salcomp chose Cato Networks and its Cato Cloud platform to address these reliability, performance and cost challenges.

Cato Networks replaced Salcomp’s MPLS links, routers, firewall appliances and WAN optimizers with redundant Cato Sockets, Cato Cloud routing and Cato Security Services, enabling direct Internet access, faster rollouts and integrated security. Performance testing showed up to 30× better SharePoint throughput versus MPLS with WAN optimization, 20× faster file downloads within China, 13% lower latency, and Salcomp reduced networking opex by more than 50% while improving cloud and unified‑communications performance and eliminating user complaints.
