J. Works - Customer Case Study

J. Works, a network security leader at a global manufacturing company, faced a critical WAN challenge when the firm migrated its SAP environment to SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud in Germany. Their legacy full‑mesh VPNs over the internet required backhauling all traffic to an on‑prem datacenter, and the SAP HEC connection (two IPSEC tunnels) would have forced deployment of an expensive, high‑risk firewall cluster in the SAP HEC datacenter with 24x7 in‑country support obligations. The team sought a fast, low‑resource fix and evaluated Cato Networks’ cloud‑based SD‑WAN/Cato Cloud offering.

Cato Networks implemented a phased solution: establish IPSEC tunnels from sites to the Cato Cloud, connect SAP HEC to the Cato Cloud (avoiding a new firewall cluster), then onboard other cloud datacenters (AWS/Azure). The deployment was completed on schedule (operational in about two weeks), used Cato’s SLA‑backed backbone for point‑to‑point connectivity, and eliminated the need for the proposed datacenter firewall. The customer is now replacing branch firewalls with Cato Sockets—targeting removal of ~30 firewalls (first four already replaced, full roll‑out expected within 12 months)—realizing hardware, licensing and support cost savings and improved support responsiveness.
