Alewijnse Transforms Global, Real-Time WAN with Cato Secure SD-WAN

Alewijnse, a Dutch electrical engineering firm with 4,000 employees across 17 locations, faced rising MPLS costs, poor Internet and cloud performance due to backhauling, slow site provisioning, and security gaps for remote and mobile users. To address these issues it chose Cato Networks’ Cato Cloud as an affordable, secure SD‑WAN alternative that could converge networking and security and extend protection to mobile devices.

Cato Networks implemented a phased rollout of Cato Cloud, connecting the Amsterdam datacenter and offices in the Netherlands, Romania and Vietnam over any available Internet last mile and consolidating locations, cloud resources and (planned) mobile clients onto a secured global backbone. The deployment eliminated Internet backhaul, improved latency and packet loss, cut monthly bandwidth spend by about 25% while delivering up to 10× more bandwidth in some sites, simplified operations, and set the stage to retire branch firewalls and deploy endpoint protection.
