Mastering New Processes with Open Exchange Formats

Karlundp, a Munich-based architectural firm, served as the general planner on a new public administrative building in Bavaria for the Schweinfurt State Building Authority. The project, which was not initially conceived for BIM, presented the challenge of adopting new model-based construction processes and requiring a common data environment (CDE) that all stakeholders, including those without specialized authoring software, could use. This required a platform to manage documents, coordinate issues, and facilitate open exchange formats.

The vendor Catenda implemented its Catenda Hub CDE platform. The solution provided a single platform for task distribution, issue coordination, and bidirectional information transfer between authoring software and the CDE. The measurable results included users becoming proficient with the system in 10-30 minutes, a reported 60-minute reduction in upload times compared to other programs, and the elimination of constant phone calls and emails chasing information. The Catenda platform provided the entire project team with up-to-date information and improved collaboration.
