Image recognition app TAGR turns the world into a street art gallery

TAGR wanted to turn street art into a discoverable, shareable experience and create a global public gallery for murals, posters, and other urban artworks. The challenge was delivering a simple, engaging mobile experience that would appeal to both tech-savvy users and casual art fans while helping artists and local art organizations gain more exposure. TAGR partnered with Catchoom and used its Image Recognition technology to power the app.

Catchoom’s image recognition solution lets TAGR users scan street art with their mobile camera to instantly identify artists and unlock related content such as creator info, wall history, maps, merchandise, and donation options. The app also supports user tagging and is being expanded with timestamp and geolocation features for live art tours and historical views of walls. After a successful beta test in major U.S. cities, TAGR launched on iOS, with Android planned next, helping artists reach new audiences and opening new revenue opportunities through donations and merchandise sales.
