University of San Francisco - Customer Case Study

The way to teach students about the crucial intersection of technology and modern museum practices. Under instructor Eyal Shahar, the challenge was to find a versatile and user-friendly cataloging system for students to use in building virtual exhibits for a fictitious collection. The university adopted CatalogIt for the course, a platform chosen for its flexibility and because it was free and convenient for students to access.

Using CatalogIt, students were able to easily catalog items with images and descriptions, focusing on how their digital collections represented their museum's mission. The solution from CatalogIt was met with significant enthusiasm, empowering and inspiring the students; one was so engaged they wanted to continue cataloging after class. Instructor Eyal Shahar considered the class a “great success,” highlighting the software’s API integration as a killer feature for demonstrating how different technologies communicate.
