Limited Space and Poor Records Encourages Digitization, Boosting Access and Enabling Interactivity via QR Codes

The California Historical Radio Society (CHRS) faced significant challenges managing its large collection of vintage radios and broadcasting equipment after a move to a new, limited-space location. Poor building conditions and disorganized records made items difficult to identify and access. Partnering with CatalogIt, CHRS used its Museum account to begin digitizing the collection and reconnecting artifacts with their lost information.

CatalogIt's solution enabled CHRS to create a comprehensive digital catalog, making stored items virtually accessible without physical handling. A key feature was the implementation of QR codes on object tags, allowing anyone to scan and immediately view an item's details on their phone via the CatalogIt HUB. As a result, CHRS has published over 900 items to the web, greatly boosting public access and preserving their collection for future generations.
