Bryn Athyn College Strengthens Disaster Recovery Infrastructure with Catalogic®

Bryn Athyn College, a small private liberal‑arts school near Philadelphia, was struggling with a fragmented backup environment that consumed disproportionate IT time and resources. Disparate tools and processes led to expanding backup windows (up to 24 hours), inconsistent restores across Exchange, SharePoint and SQL systems, and a staff member largely tied up managing backups for a 5 TB environment.

Working with Comm Solutions, BAC implemented Catalogic DPX with NetApp storage to consolidate backup, deduplication, instant restore and retention management into a single interface. Backups now complete in 30–120 minutes (up to 90% faster), administrative effort has dropped about 80% (roughly 20% FTE), staff learned the system in days, users can self-restore recent files, and emergency recovery proved fast—two servers were restored in about 30 minutes.
