How Optina Diagnostics uses Castor EDC in research of earlier disease detection

Optina Diagnostics, developing a hyperspectral camera + AI platform to detect early signs of Alzheimer’s, needed massive amounts of clean, structured data across multiple studies to train and validate its algorithm. To meet this challenge they partnered with Castor EDC and its electronic data capture platform and professional services to streamline data collection and study setup.

Castor EDC’s platform enabled electronic, standardized data capture (reducing manual cleaning), study monitoring, FormSync and source data verification, and allowed Optina to self-build subsequent studies after initial support. The result: Optina built 12 studies (with builds taking 1–2 weeks depending on study), saved time and money, gained FDA clearance for the device, and is now conducting a pivotal validation study—demonstrating measurable progress driven by Castor EDC.
