A Castor EDC Case Study
Essity, a global hygiene and health company, needed to recruit and retain participants aged 35–75 for a decentralized clinical trial of a novel bladder sensor while minimizing in-person visits during the COVID-19 pandemic. To meet tight timelines and improve participant experience, Essity turned to Castor EDC, using Castor’s eConsent and EDC platform (with eCRF/ePRO capabilities) to streamline enrollment and data capture.
Working with Castor EDC (and recruitment partner Link2Trials), Essity implemented online pre-screening, video-enabled eConsent via Castor’s platform and API-based integration for seamless data transfer and on-site measurements. The approach recruited 394 respondents, 91 signed Castor eConsent forms, and 84 participants completed the study within four months—achieving faster enrollment, reduced site visits (no in-person enrollment), and at least a 2x increase in recruitment efficiency.
