Case Study: Academic Medical Center (AMC) achieves centralized, GCP-compliant research data management with Castor EDC

Departmental License for Researchers at the AMC, Anesthesiology Department

Academic Medical Center’s Department of Anesthesiology in Amsterdam ran many concurrent research projects but lacked a uniform, secure database for investigators. Previously used systems (e.g., OpenClinica and Excel) were error-prone, lacked reliable audit trails, and were not sufficiently secure for patient-identifiable data; after a Joint Commission International (JCI) visit the Department chose a departmental license from Castor EDC to centralize and standardize data capture.

Castor EDC implemented a single departmental license with GCP-compliant features (time-stamping, audit trail, traceability), standardized templates and workflows, and a hands-on kick-off training by its Customer Success team. The Department has begun migrating studies into the Castor EDC environment, reporting faster study setup, improved reproducibility and data quality, reduced risk of data leakage, and positive user feedback from researchers.
