Pomeroy, a Kentucky-based IT infrastructure services firm with about 3,500 employees, was facing rapidly rising healthcare costs and needed to replace its PPO with a full‑replacement high-deductible health plan (HDHP) for 2014 without disrupting employees or reducing the value of benefits. The challenge was to educate and engage staff so they could become effective healthcare consumers under the new plan.

Pomeroy implemented Castlight’s health benefits platform to consolidate cost, quality, plan, and wellness information (including a mobile app) and drive targeted engagement. The program achieved 75% registration (68% return rate), high content usage, reduced administrative calls, and delivered roughly $3M in savings—about a 30% reduction in per‑employee‑per‑year healthcare costs—while helping employees shop smarter and grow HSA balances.
