Telefónica, the world’s seventh-largest telecommunications company with operations in 20 countries across Europe and Latin America, set a goal of running 80% of its workloads on Microsoft Azure by 2025. The company faced nearly 100 complex applications built from a mix of legacy and modern technologies and lacked consistent, fact-based visibility into cloud readiness, which stalled prior migration and modernization efforts.

Telefónica used CAST Highlight to automatically analyze application source code and produce software intelligence—including cloud readiness, blockers, and estimated modernization effort—working with Microsoft and CAST to define per-application paths (Refactor, Rearchitect, Rebuild). The automated insights saved months in planning, gave management the confidence to proceed with Azure migrations, and accelerated cloud adoption, improving agility, time to market, and reducing operational costs.
